Is your seafood frozen?
Nope. Everything you get at Nor-Cal Seafood is alive and kicking, sometimes wiggling. We don’t deal with, or sell, frozen seafood.
Do you descale, shuck, or prepare seafood?
No. That’s half the fun in preparing a seafood meal! You’ll have to descale, shuck, and prep your own seafood but don’t worry, it’s not that bad. Think of it as leveling up your cooking skills. Plenty of videos and tutorials out there for ya. Make sure you get a good shucking knife though. Don’t try shucking oysters with a regular kitchen knife.
Are we open to the general public?
Yes! We’re open to the general public. Walk-ins and phone orders are welcomed. Please see the contact page for our contact information.
Why don’t you have a store front with nice customer service?
We’re not a shiny, fashionable, trendy sort of shop. Nor are we a place where you want to wear stilettos or fancy wool suit when you come visit (highly don’t recommend this). We’re a working warehouse providing live seafood to our community which means our folks are running around prepping for shipments to go out. The lack of a fancy store front and peppy customer service folks means lower seafood costs for our customers. Please be aware our warehouse isn’t your typical supermarket experience. Apologies in advance if we come off as rude, we’re just usually busy. Rudeness definitely not intended.
If you need something and our workers seem to be ignoring you (they're likely just focused on getting their products packed), just speak up politely and say that you’re interested in purchasing some seafood. They’ll either point you to the sales office or someone will come and help ya. We’re fishmongers, not mind readers. Thanks for your patience, understanding, and support.
What are your hours?
For all customers, our warehouse is open from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday through Saturday. We’re closed on Sundays. Vendors and wholesale customers please contact your salesperson directly outside of these hours.
Why are you only open for a couple of hours in the morning?
Since we are a wholesale distributor, our mornings are the busy with packing, loading, and getting ready for our daily deliveries. Once the trucks go out, generally by 10am, the office will shut down for the remainder of the day because there isn’t a lot of walk-in business. To keep costs down for our customers, we don’t have a public storefront or shop for folks to peruse our products.

Do you ship live products?
It depends on where you’re located. We want your order to arrive to you live and kickin’, so if you’re in the vicinity of California, we can probably work something out. Contact our sales team for more info. There is a minimum purchase required for air freight shipments and buyers are responsible for all shipping costs.
Do you deliver to personal addresses?
We currently do not, however we’re working on something to help our general customers out.
